Until this trip, South Africa had always been my favorite adventure destination. I love safari, especially luxury safari, and Thornybush and Kapama in the greater Kruger area were both unbelievable — amazing food, luxurious accommodations, and premier game viewing.
After visiting Botswana,however, it’s moved to the top of my list! What makes it better? It feels more authentic and a bit more of an adventure. South Africa is polished and effortless; Botswana is just as luxurious, but wilder. We flew on small planes between camps and spent far more time with our guides, hosts, cooks, and bartenders — there was a real focus on interaction between the guests and the people who worked at the camp. We ate our meals together, spent time around the fire chatting each evening and even had a few dance parties that were SO much fun!
