You had me at Yassou! From the moment I first bound off of an all night ferry in 1988 at the port of Corfu, I was IN LOVE! Over the years many visits have followed, and Greece … you never disappoint! Each of your islands is different: Santorini with its dramatic beauty, quiet Ithaca with its hidden beaches, wild Crete with is hiking trails and pink beaches, Corfu oozing Italian charm, Milos with its moonscape beaches and Mykonos, the fanciest of them all, with the best people watching and over the top nightlife. It’s modest little Ios though, with its quiet beaches and unforgettable sunsets that always puts the biggest smile on my face.
Other countries have their beauty and charm, but none of them feels quite like you. Your people are warm and welcoming. Your food and wine is like no where else: fresh fish, Greek salads with vine ripened tomatoes, crisp Assyrtiko wine from Santorini, homemade french fries for every meal. Enjoying these while relaxing beside the deep blue Aegean Sea is the stuff that dreams are made of!
I’ll keep coming back and bringing my friends. Please don’t change Greece – you are perfect!
