Past Groups: Jordan Grand Tour Spring 2019

Springtime in Jordan is the time for outdoor adventure.  For a few months every year, the country turns green and the temperatures are perfect for hiking and camping. Our 2019 tour was escorted and led by Jordanian and American guides and included 23 travelers from Austin, Atlanta, San Francisco, St. Louis, and Minneapolis.  It was tailored toward the outdoor lover, but also included visits to some of Jordan’s most important cultural and historical sites.  Our 8 -day trip packed in a whole lot of Jordan:  Amman, Jerash, Wadi Rum, Petra, the Dead Sea, and Madaba.  We rode camels and jeeps, floated in the Dead Sea, has some world class spa treatments at the Dead Sea Spa, attended a Jordanian cooking class, hiked in the Dana Biosphere, trekked all over Petra, and visited the Roman ruins in Jerash. Our group stayed in some really lovely accommodations that included 5 -star hotels like the Dead Sea Marriott https://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/qmdjv-dead-sea-marriott-resort-and-spa/ and the Mars-like desert camp in Wadi Rum https://www.suncitycamp.com and my personal favorite, the lovely Feynan EcoLodge https://ecohotels.me/Feynan.

Many of our travelers took advantage of our layover in Istanbul, spending a few nights there to discover that truly amazing city.  They visited the Topkapi Palace and the Hagia Sophia, sailed on the Bosphorous, and visited the Grand Bazaar.  We all got to marvel over the brand new Istanbul International Airport, slated to eventually the the largest airport in the world in the near future.

This was a fantastic group of travelers who were up for anything (including a 12-mile hike!) and met each new experience with a lot of curiosity and gusto.  I would be thrilled to travel with any of them again on a new adventure.
